Depaul International, and representatives from around the Depaul Group’s seven charities across the world, is attending the Vincentian Family Symposium in Rome, from 12-15 October 2017, which focuses on its 400th anniversary theme ‘Welcome the Stranger’.

The highlight of the event is in St Peter’s where Pope Francis will join 10,000 Vincentians celebrating 400 years of Vincentian service around the world.  Emanating from St Vincent de Paul’s first recognition of the need to ‘organise charity’ in 1617 at Chatillon, when many people kindly offered help to a poor family but all at the same time, different Vincentian-inspired groups around the globe have, over the next 400 years, taken inspiration from those early interventions to support people who are the poorest and most vulnerable in society.

Mark McGreevy OBE, Depaul Group Chief Executive, will also be speaking at St Peter’s.  Depaul is honoured to have been asked by the Vincentian Family to co-ordinate its chosen 400th anniversary initiative over the next three years, working to reduce homelessness globally, under the auspices of the Famvin Homeless Alliance.
