2025 impact report: over 39,300 people supported around the world

Today, we’re proud to launch our 2025 Impact Report, which celebrates the impact our work has had across the globe. Through our services, we’re proud to have reached over 39,300 people experiencing homelessness in 2025. Find out more in our 2025 Impact Report here.

Helen O’Shea, our Chair of Trustees, and Matthew Carter, Group CEO Depaul International, said in a joint statement:

When we think about what ‘home’ means, we know it is more than just having a roof over our heads. It is a place where we can feel stability. A place which gives us dignity. And, in the words of one person supported by Depaul, it’s ‘a quiet space to hear your own dreams again.’

At Depaul, our vision is of a world where everyone has a place to call home and a stake in their community. It’s what we’ve been working towards since the first Depaul service was set up in 1989. Since then, we’ve expanded our reach around the world, setting up services in areas where there is little or no provision to support those experiencing homelessness. With homelessness rising around the world, our work feels more urgent than ever. Whilst estimates vary, it’s thought that 330 million people around the world are experiencing homelessness. Coordinated action to address homelessness is therefore vital.

Yet, reading this report gives us great hope. In the report, you’ll read about how Depaul steps up to implement services where the need is greatest. This includes opening a shelter in Arkansas, filling a gap left by the closure of another organisation’s services. Meanwhile, Depaul Ireland expanded their prisons prevention programme, launching a new service for women in Northern Ireland. These examples show how our national teams identify local needs, responding efficiently by setting up high-quality services.

We know that housing-led approaches are vital to ending homelessness, and our teams have continued to embed this approach in their work. In the UK, the team addressed gaps in housing provision by setting up new services in Warrington and Durham. Elsewhere, Depaul Slovakia continued to grow their housing programme, which places those experiencing homelessness into long-term, permanent housing.

Underpinning this work is a person-centred, values-led approach. Experiencing homelessness can often be lonely and isolating, but the stories peppered throughout this report show how our staff create a welcoming community at our services. In 2025, we supported over 39,000 people experiencing homelessness, and we pride ourselves on ensuring that every single person accessing our services is treated with dignity and care. It’s hard not to smile at the stories which demonstrate this. This includes the story of a young man in the UK who was supported by his progression coach to reignite his love for cricket, to the testimony of a man supported by DepaulFrance, who highlights the welcoming atmosphere at their day centre.

At Depaul, we also work with the Institute of Global Homelessness (IGH) and Famvin Homeless Alliance (FHA) and 2025 saw their work go from strength to strength. The FHA continued to grow their 13 Houses Campaign, which sees services for those experiencing homelessness implemented around the world. We’re proud to be a partner in the Campaign’s housing projects, including a new service in Croatia. IGH continued to advocate for homelessness at an international level, and in September, the UN Secretary General released a report on homelessness.

In 2025, we continued to deliver the Depaul Group Strategic Framework, which focuses on ending homelessness for more people in more places. In partnership with the Vincentian Foundation, we launched Onward Home, our first service in the Philippines which provides housing for families experiencing homelessness. This lays the foundation for Depaul Philippines, which will launch in 2026. We also continued to test innovative approaches to ending homelessness, drawing on the strength of the international Group to test Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in homelessness services. Looking ahead, 2026 will be a crucial year as we continue to deliver projects across all themes of the strategy. As ever, we remain committed to ensuring those we serve are at the heart of our work and engaging with others who share our vision of a world where everyone has a place to call home and a stake in their community.
