Slovakia | Depaulcharity

Depaul helps people who are homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Depaul Slovakia is based in the capital Bratislava, and was set up in 2006 in response to the deaths of dozens sleeping rough on the street in winter due to a lack of support for homeless people in the city at that time.

Depaul runs one of Bratislava’s largest shelters for homeless people. St Vincent’s Nightshelter can accommodate some 200 people each night – offering a place of warmth and safety off the freezing streets. Depaul also runs a smaller shelter for those in employment so they can maintain this income and have the time to take the necessary steps towards living independently.

Depaul Slovakia operates specialist healthcare projects. St Louise’s Rehabilitation Centre offers intensive support to those coming out of hospital after severe illness, preventing them ending up on the street and their health regressing as a result. Depaul runs a drop-in medical service for the wider homeless population.
